"Stevens leaving France for entertainment projects, California racing
Jockey Gary Stevens has ridden his last race in France under an arrangement with top trainer Andre Fabre, announcing after Tuesday’s program at Deauville that he will return to the United States to pursue several entertainment projects.
“I leave France in good terms with Andre Fabre but we have been disappointed by our results. I have accepted a proposition to take part in a talk show [in the U.S.] and I have been offered [an acting role] in another movie,” Stevens said. “I will go on riding in the States and my agent should pick up a few rides for me in California. I am also looking forward to take part in the Breeders’ Cup in Texas.”
Jockey agent Craig O’Bryan said Stevens would return to California on September 2 and ride the last few days of the Del Mar meet, which concludes on September 8. O’Bryan said he did not know any details about the movie or the talk show.
“Once he gets back, we’ll be ready to go, looking for Breeders’ Cup horses,” O’Bryan said. “He’s going to ride full-time. It all happened pretty quick, but I know he’s anxious to get back, ride here, see some friends, and line up some Breeders’ Cup horses.”
Stevens, who starred in the movie “Seabiscuit,” scored 55 times since his arrival in April as first jockey for Fabre.
Ironically, the only Group 1 race that Stevens won in France was aboard Somnus, who is trained by Englishman Tim Easterby, in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on August 8. He rode the winners of six other French group stakes and returned to the U.S. briefly to ride Rock Hard Ten to a runner-up finish behind Smarty Jones in the Preakness Stakes (G1)."
apparemment donc, il quitte André Fabre en bons termes même s'ils ont tous deux été déçus par les résultats obtenus depuis son arrivée en France.
Gary Stevens a eu des propositions aux USA pour participer à un talk show et tourner des films.
il continuera de monter aux USA, principalement en Californie.
il sera de retour dans son pays le 2 septembre pour monter les quelques jours restants du meeting de Del Mar, puis il espère monter dans la Breeder's Cup. |
